POP and IMAP are the two methods available to configure access to your inbox within your email client.
If you choose POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3)—currently the most widely used—messages are retrieved from the Inbox folder on the mail server and downloaded locally to your computer. They will no longer be visible from the webmail interface unless you enable the option to keep a copy on the server.
With IMAP4 (Internet Mail Access Protocol 4), messages—whether in the Inbox or in any other folder—remain stored on the server, and only a copy is downloaded to your computer. This allows you to access your mailbox from multiple devices and always view the same content, provided that all access is done via IMAP4 or webmail.
It is important to note that if a message is deleted from the email client, it will also be deleted from the webmail.
